Best Identity Theft Protection
“Hi, I am planning to buy a identity theft protection program from Life Lock. Their price is pretty cheap and is charged per month. Well I’m not sure if their price is right but what I really like is the identity protection I get. I’ve heard really good feedback about them. The other good thing is that they have an identity guarantee for up to a million if my identity gets stolen while with them. Don’t you think that is pretty good identity protection?
Now my question is before I join? Is it really time to panic and everyone should buy identity theft program or I am just crazy or something? Also I need to know if there is other programs out there that I should consider?”
The above question ( Best Identity Theft Protection? ) was submitted by a reader and here is my response…
Yes, I am aware they had some problems early on and have since fixed them, but Lifelock is good because they guarantee to spend up to $1,000,000.00 to bring your identity back to “normal” if your identity is stolen while subscribed to their identity theft protection plan. TrustedID is a really good identity theft protection plan too and like Lifelock, also offers a very solid one million dollar identity protection warranty.
You can see user comments on this website for both Lifelock and TrustedID in the identity theft protection reviews category.

The Best Identity Theft Protection you can buy is self investment. The 3-major reporting agencies offer you a free annual credit report if you have encountered identity theft issues on your credit reports and implemented something where they have to contact you if credit is applied for using your information. The best part about it is that its free and will only cost you time and effort. The best protection you have is yourself and your own attention to your business.
P.S. The best part is it does not affect your credit rating…
You should do a credit check annually to ensure you know where you stand and if you find something thats not yours or you don’t know what it is you can dispute it for free.
The ‘Dude’ comment below about checking your credit with the big three every year is a very important thing to do…BUT…the problem with doing ONLY that is that you will find out too late that your identity has been stolen. Checking your credit reports can not and should not ever replace having a subscription to a good identity theft protection plan like TrustedID or Lifelock. If you don’t believe me, then just ask those that have had their identities stolen and they will all tell you that checking your credit report isn’t enough.
